Dyer’s Grimoire

Dyer's Grimoire is inspired by the natural dye research conducted at the Fungivor Residency, a mycology-based dye and Indigenous partnership initiative, and research at the Old School Art House residency in Iceland. This research project compiles alternative knowledge at the intersection of land, femininity, science, and art.

Both residencies explored textiles as independence and patriarchal resistance; similarly, a grimoire is a witch's spellbook and a record of her resistance. Grimoires share the affect of craft as a marker of resistance in the domestic sphere, making it an intentional display for the natural dye research that inspires my craft-based practice.
